About Gerald
I am a learner, abstracter, and builder.
I am deeply energized by the freedom, stability, and prosperity that Bitcoin can (and does) bring to the world.
I’m also very concerned with our current paradigm of digital identity in the US, and am a passionate advocate for the advancement of “Self Sovereign Identity” concepts which leverage technology and open standards like Decentralized Identifiers and Verifiable Credentials.
My views about digital identity in the US are grounded in my professional experience, which include:
Leading the fraud team at ID.me
Leading fraud strategy at Capital One’s Small Business Bank
Overseeing and defending the fraud and identity programs of dozens of household brands in the US - including many top US cryptocurrency exchanges.
I am interested in contributing towards any and all of the work that needs to be done to manifest an identity infrastructure in the US that brings sovereignty and consent back to individuals when it comes to the utilization of their identity - whether that is through policy work, strategy, product, or any other high-value job to be done.
Additionally, I am a home miner, and am extremely interested in developing the capabilities, teams, and products necessary to enable broad-scale adoption of mining heat reuse. I built an immersion setup in 2023 to heat our family pool, and am grateful to the community of open and brilliant people in the space who continue to build, share, and inspire.
